Salut Sunday (pronounced saloo) is a self-care and collective care studio offering products, education and curated spaces to support wellbeing.

Inspired by the creolisation that makes up Rianna's Caribbean heritage- Salut Sunday draws on the ancient and traditional practices of self-care and collective care from different parts of the world that have a strong history/ influences in the Caribbean.

Salut Sunday aims to offer a space that aids in rest, recovery, protection and encouragement in order to live as our higher selves.

Let's slow down together and be mindful of how we look after ourselves which in turn makes us better equipped to look after others. Self-care for better collective care.

*Salut Sunday- name stems from the Christian tradition of Sunday being a day of rest, a time to recenter and worship. “Salut” is the casual greeting in French meaning “hi” but the direct translation into English is “salvation to you". The creole language spoken in Saint Lucia and other islands in the Caribbean has French influence.

The word “Salut” is also a reference to Sun Salutations- a combination of yoga asanas (poses) which were traditionally practiced to honour the Sun (in Hinduism the sun is seen as the spiritual and physical heart of the World and the creator of all life). Altogether, the name Salut Sunday is a symbol of honouring ourselves and others in connection, rest and love.

*creolisation- used to describe the mixing together of different people and cultures to become one. Term originally coined to describe the Caribbean.

The Founder

Hi, i'm Rianna and I am a storyteller, artist, museum curator and founder of Salut Sunday. From my earliest memories I have always been a sensitive person- feeling everything so deeply. I have been on a journey of trying to live a more easeful life in a world that can often feel overwhelming and I am still journeying as there is no end.

Growing up in inner city London to a Caribbean family and attending a church that was diverse and vibrant (in age, cultures and socio economic backgrounds) was definitely a foundation into the idea of self-care and collective care for me.  It was about 11 years ago during a difficult period in my life when I attended my first yoga class and things really shifted for me in terms of embodiment practice.

Graduating from some of the top art and design schools in the World including University of the Arts London and Royal College of Art, I am continually trying to find ways to use my creativity for good.

My work is often guided by my London/Caribbean heritage alongside my spiritual path that is ever evolving. I have been practicing Yoga for a decade and more recently, Kung fu for 3 years. My work has spanned across themes of decolonisation, reparative justice, migration and community. I have helped to tell the stories of those often mis/underrepresented and given voice to hidden histories. Salut Sunday is a space where the lessons learnt from all of these things can come together to create a positive impact in the World.

Thank you for being here. I look forward to connecting with you.

Take time to take care x
